I recently reverted back to windows 7 on my notebook from Asus (n551jk) which has been causing me a tonne of problems with 8.1. As network controller driver is missing I can't connect to the internet to download drivers directly from internet, though I do have access to the internet via another pc. • Hello, Try physically removing your NIC from the computer and reboot. Then replace the NIC and reboot a second time. If the card is good your OS will recognize it as new hardware and install the appropriate drivers. If the card is bad it will not see it at reboot and not install any drivers and not appear in device manager. If that occurs you'll want to try replacing the card as your next step. Good luck!

• It's importat to know is your network controler integrated or it is separeted from moterboard. If it's integrated find CD with drivers for your MB if it is not - find the driver on the NET. Try to instal the corect driver. Ping to local host (127.0.0.1) with corect answer meens that all with net system is fine localy and there aren't problem with controler. Actualy see configuration in BIOS too. Good luck

• It could be a bad network card; however, do you have your virus program files up-to-date? Also, do you have any spyware software on your OS and is it up to date? Did you do a virus scan after you updated your virus protection? If it is a bad network card you will need to pull it out if it is a PCI card. If it is built into the motherboard you will need to look up the motherboard manufacture to find out what kind of a network card you have.
