Hello Jos van Tuil,
Thank you for posting your question in our forum.
In order to help you, I need more detailed information here.
- What Citrix XEN Server you are using?
- What Acronis Product and build you are using for converting?
- Do you have Acronis Universal Restore for your Acronis Product? Does this work?
I will monitor this thread and see your reply.
Let me know if you need additional help please.
Thank you.
Hi Peter,
Thanks for your reply,

I'm using xen server 6.0.2
And I'm using http://download.acronis.com/vhd2xen.i686
And no I don't have an Acronis Universal Restor, I'm not even using an acronis device, I'm using a synology NAS and an HP SAN
Hello Jos,
Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I do not know which product you have used Acronis to create a backup and convert to this in the VHD format.
In our article that you used to download the .i686 file, you can read, that we support Citrix Xen up to version 5.5. Version 6 is currently not supported.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Peter,
I haven't used anything to make a backup sorry if I was a bit vague . I'm migrating my Hyper-V environment to XEN. I'm in the process of copying the VHD files from Hyper-V to XEN using the tool from acronis to convert the files, and there is were I encounter the error
Hello Jos,
Thank you for your reply.
Please remember my last post, the script works only with Citrix XEN 5.5 not 6.x. On the other hand, the tool is designed to import converted vhd files from Acronis products. It is possible, that your vhd format is also not supported by the tool.
The best way for this migration is in your situation Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 to backup the machine first and restore it, using Acronis Universal Restore to run your v2v migration.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
Thnx for you reaction.
So your saying If iI make a backup with acronis that i can v2v that image file?
I'll try it and let you know the result :)
Hello Jos,
Thank you for your reply and testing our products.
I suggest to use the Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Virtual Edition for Citrix XenServer. This you can not only use for migration, also for your backups. Please see the Trial Limitations. As you cannot backup using the boot media in trial version, you have to install the Acronis Agent into the machine, you want to migrate.
See here the full product online help.

Acronis Universal Restore is included in this Edition.
I hope this information is helpful for your migration project.
Let me know if you need additional help please.
Thank you.
